— PEHUAJÓ CHAMOMILE —
What Makes Our Chamomile Special
In Pehuajó's ecosystem, our chamomile develops characteristics that distinguish it from others.
The Pehuajó Advantage
Our region is characterised by:
Perfect drainage soil with ideal mineral composition
Consistent rainfall patterns that reduce the need for irrigation
Temperate climate with defined seasons that encourage essential oil production
Natural windbreaks that protect our flowers
Our chamomile contains high levels of α-bisabolol and chamazulene, compounds known for their anti-inflammatory properties. We harvest at dawn, when essential oil concentration is highest, to preserve these compounds to the maximum.
The Pehuajó Terroir
Our chamomile expresses the characteristics of Pehuajó's terroir:
Soil: Rich in minerals
Climate: Ideal balance of sun and rain
Tradition: Cultivation methods refined over generations
Harvest Timing
We harvest following the lunar calendar, a tradition based on the observation that flowers retain their aroma better when harvested during certain moon phases. This practice is rooted in our experience and understanding of the relationship between natural rhythms and plant biology.
Sustainability Practices
Though we don't hold organic certification, our farming practices meet or exceed many organic standards:
Crop rotation to maintain soil health
Companion planting with native flora to attract beneficial insects
Natural compost from our own plant waste
Manual weeding instead of chemical control
Solar-powered drying facilities that preserve essential oils
